Trouble at the Antenna Site
Last months electric bill came as a shock to Secretary/Treasurer Bob Rumpff (KC5TWW) as it reached an all time high of about $190.00 dollars. Allen Nichols (KC5NHV) reported at last months meeting that a problem was found with the breaker box at the antenna site. It was found that one of the circuits was allowing electricity to flow freely into the ground. It was moved and seconded that money and equipment be obtained to repair the problem. Between Rayford Dunagan (WD5EFJ) and JL Stevens (N5INC) the equipment needed was donated which included wire , breakers and a fuse box. Rayford and JL also did the repair at the site so give them a pat on the back when you see them.
Its Time to think about Upgrading!
One of the main reasons that Amateur Radio was created was to have communication in an emergency. This has been proven to be an asset to what ever community time and time again. But consider how much more useful this service would be if that operator could use more or all of the amateur bands. There are many reasons that an operator should upgrade. To acquire greater band use, to continue and improve his facility with various mode of communication within the ham band such as amtor, packet, satellite, and now even the Internet will be used as a tool by and for Hams. There are many opportunities in our area to study and to test so please keep this in mind. So please Ugrade!
BSARC Fox Hunt
Get ready for the Fox Hunt! Allen Nichols (KC5NHV) is preparing a fox hunt for the club which will be scheduled in October or November. Dates to be announced, so pull out , buy or build that antenna that will win you the contest! There is a rumor going around that several members are already planning and scheming to win. Good Luck and may the best man (err... antenna) win!
Congratulations go out to Cara Nichols (wife of Allen Nichols KC5NHV) for passing the Novice exam portion of her No-Code Tech. I am sure the club wishes you continued success and Good Luck!
Welcome back Lynn (AB5ZI) and Cyndi (AC5CZ) Drewianka to the Club!
For those who have not heard yet, Ron and Katie Briley are moving to San Angelo. We in the Club would like to wish them Good Luck!
From the Prez...
Well, another month has come and gone, and it's time for another club meeting. I hope we don't have any more suprises, in the expense department! I'd like to say thank you to JL(N5INC), Raford(WD5EFJ), and the others who went up and worked at the repeater site to correct our expensive electrical problems. I'm sorry I don't know who all was there, but I've been out of town most of the past month working on a little project, and I've missed out on a lot of things around here. But once again thanks to all involved. Hope you can all make to the meeting, it would really be a treat to have the whole club at the same place at the same time. This is YOUR club, and it can only be what YOU make it!
